About Course

This self-paced continuing education course, presented by Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Counseling Professional Supervisor Cassi Haberler, offers an in-depth examination of human trafficking through a clinical and trauma-informed lens. Drawing on over two decades of experience in domestic violence shelters, sexual assault centers, transitional housing, and community advocacy, Ms. Haberler brings forward real-world insights and clinical strategies for recognizing and responding to trafficking.

Learners will explore key definitions, historical context, and current global and domestic data on human trafficking. Special attention is given to understanding vulnerabilities that increase risk, traffickers' power and control tactics, and coordinated community responses. Through the lens of trauma-informed care, participants will learn safety planning strategies and discuss barriers clinicians may face when working with survivors.

This course balances difficult subject matter with a compassionate, engaging approach, including moments of lightness to support learner well-being. Clinicians will be better equipped to assess, intervene, and advocate for clients impacted by trafficking.

Speaker Profile

Cassi Haberler, LPC, CPCS

Cassi Haberler is a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Certified Professional Counseling Supervisor (CPCS) in the state of Georgia, bringing over 16 years of clinical and supervisory experience to the mental health field. Throughout her career, Cassi has dedicated herself to working with survivors of domestic abuse, sexual assault and abuse, child abuse, and human trafficking. Her deep understanding of trauma and recovery has made her a trusted expert in trauma-informed care and complex case management.
Cassi holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Human Services from Pepperdine University, and earned her Master of Education in Clinical Counseling Psychology from Ohio University. Her clinical approach is grounded in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy and enhanced by strength-based, mindfulness, and solution-focused methods. Cassi’s integrative style reflects her commitment to adaptability and creativity in addressing the diverse needs of individuals and families.

As a clinical supervisor and educator, Cassi is passionate about supporting professionals in developing ethical, effective, and compassionate practices. Her professional mission is to create safe, collaborative spaces where both clients and clinicians can grow, heal, and thrive.
