About Course

The Somatic Toolbox Series: The Container is a self-paced, 1-hour continuing education course designed to give counselors a foundational, clinically grounded understanding of “The Container” as a somatic intervention. Presented through a trauma-informed lens, this course introduces the concept of “the container” as a practical, body-based tool that supports emotional regulation, stabilization, and grounding—skills essential for clients navigating trauma, overwhelm, and dysregulation.

Learners will explore the neurobiological and psychological principles behind containment. The course demonstrates how containment practices help clients safely hold, organize, and modulate internal experiences, both within sessions and between them.

Clinical application is emphasized throughout. Participants will learn step-by-step strategies for guiding clients in building internal and external containers, adapting interventions for diverse populations, and integrating somatic containment into existing treatment frameworks. Ethical considerations, cultural sensitivity, and contraindications are also addressed to ensure safe and appropriate use.

This course offers an accessible blend of education, demonstration, and reflective practice, equipping clinicians with a reliable somatic tool they can immediately incorporate into their therapeutic work. Counselors will leave with greater confidence in supporting client regulation, enhancing safety, and building capacity for deeper clinical work.
